Our Community

As the African Proverb says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Our community from within and without our walls is one of the defining cornerstones of A.R.S. Armenian Private School.

Principal, Mr. Raffi Sarkissian, oversees both the Junior (Kindergarten to Grade 8) and Senior schools (Grade 9-12). His office and administrative staff are located in the Armenian Youth Centre where the Senior school is housed.

Students in the Senior School from Grade 4 to Grade 12 are all housed in the Armenian Youth Centre, adjacent to the Community Centre and are guided by Vice Principal, Ms.Sarig Babian. Here, older students are able to assume leadership roles in mentoring and tutoring the younger members of the school, and, once again, invaluable relationships are forged across the different age groups. Students have access to a bright and spacious gym where athletics is an integral part of student life, both in and out of the classroom. A senior school library and a computer lab are located on the 2nd floor of the school. And a spacious auditorium plays host to numerous school concerts and performances.

The A.R.S. Roubina Nursery, Babayan Kindergarten and Kololian Elementary School – from Preschool to Grade 3 – are housed in the original Armenian Community Centre building. Guided by Vice Principal Zela Sarmazian-Kakousian, the younger students are able to interact in a comforting and age-appropriate environment. Students have access to a small, contained, outdoor playground, a large gymnasium where morning assembly, gym classes and recess are held, along with the school Library that is continually looking to expand its bookshelves. Please visit the Library page to find out how you can donate books.

Parents and alumni play a vital role in enriching the lives of our students. Many donate funds generously to the school. To find out how you can give to A.R.S. please visit the Support A.R.S. section.

Equally important is the donation of time. Students benefit greatly when former graduates and working parents volunteer as guest speakers, coaches and all around mentors. Parents and alumni also facilitate workplace tours when they are involved in exciting careers in which they think the students would be interested.

Meanwhile, our dedicated Parents’ Committee enables countless school lunches, school concerts, special events, fundraising and humanitarian outreach efforts. We encourage one and all to lend their expertise and passion to the school in any way that you see fit. Please refer to the Parents’ Committee page as well as the Alumni pages to find out how you can become involved.
